Learn with Marilyn Valiente
Concertina books unfold like a visual journey—one continuous sheet of watercolor paper that bends, folds, and becomes a sequence of pages. They can also be created from individual pieces of paper joined together to form the accordion structure. Because they can be viewed from both sides, the book becomes a space to explore images, words, textures, and ideas from multiple perspectives.

The goal of this class is to invite each participant to play, experiment, and discover the possibilities of the artist’s book as a personal form of expression. Through folding, layering, mark-making, and storytelling, we will explore how a book can become more than a container for ideas—it can become the artwork itself. Everyone will leave with at least one finished artist’s book: a small, handmade space for their ideas, memories, and imagination.
