Urban Sketching with perspective: I love to sketch scenes quickly and wherever I am with a minimum of line and wash – Plein aire painting with a bit of spontaneity. The key to sketching urban scenes is to start with some fundamentals of linear perspective and to paint the shadow. In this workshop, we will go outside to sketch with pencil and watercolor wash, using simple techniques of perspective adapted for painters. We will find vanishing points and draw repetitive elements in depth, such as a colonnade or row of windows. We will learn shorthand techniques for giving buildings and landscape a sense of spatial depth.
